Goal
Typographics is an 11-day festival focused on the new frontiers of digital typography. My design goals are: Provide potential Latin and Cyrillic designers and audiences with the same event experience.
Type System
How to provide the same event experience for designers and audiences who speak different languages? Using the same font in the type system looks too blunt. I tried to use Teko+Ubuntu in Latin script and Oswald+Roboto in Cyrillic script and then created similar visuals by adjusting letter spacing and line height.
Logo
Logos often build people's first impression of a brand. It will appear at the top of web pages and on posters, brochures, etc. I wanted my logo to be recognizable in different sizes, reflecting the similarity and interactivity of both scripts.
Poster
As part of the poster project, each team member was tasked with selecting and working on another member's design concept. I chose a logo that resembled a finger photo frame and used it as my inspiration. However, I faced a challenge in deciding on the appropriate color palette to complement the logo's captivating asymmetry.
To tackle this issue, I utilized a contrast testing site to explore various color schemes and gathered feedback from my fellow teammates. After careful consideration, I settled on a black and white poster that effectively showcases the logo's unique balance while remaining visually interesting and accessible.
Landing Page
My initial goal for the landing page was to do it on one page and keeping the same size ratio of the title and body as poster's. Also, make sure the minimum font size is no smaller than 16px (Thanks to our research on web typography accessible during the second week of that summer semester).
